Edirne Cezaevi’nde tutuklu bulunan eski HDP Eş Genel Başkanı Selahattin Demirtaş, bugün yayınlanan yazısında seçmene, milletvekilleri adaylarına ve siyasetçilere seslendi.

Gazete Duvar‘da yayınlanan yazıda Demirtaş, “Değişmemekte ısrar edip öte yandan demokrasi havarisi gibi ortada dolaşanlar çok sırıtıyor, benden söylemesi. Sıfatınız, kimliğiniz, kudretiniz ne olursa olsun demokratik bir şekilde yaşamadan, demokratik düşünmeden demokrasiyi savunmak çok çirkin bir görüntü oluşturuyor. Hele halkı temsil eden veya bu iddiada olan bir siyasetçiyseniz çok daha fazla göze batıyor” dedi.

“Bu yazıda kastedilen sensin, başkası değil.

Muhalefet haklı olarak, 14 Mayıs seçimlerini değişimin başlangıcı olarak görüyor. Peki nedir bu değişim, tam olarak ne değişecek? Muhalefet seçimi kazanırsa öncelikle iktidar değişecek. Ama değişimden kastedilen sadece bu olmasa gerek.

Benim değişimden anladığım şey, mevcut düşünce kalıplarımızdan ve şablonlarımızdan sıyrılmamızdır.

Her birimiz durduğumuz yeri en kusursuz, en mükemmel yer olarak belirleyip geri kalan herkesin bizi baz alarak değişmesini bekliyorsak feci şekilde yanılıyoruz demektir. “Değişim değişim” deyip bunu zerrece kendi üstümüze alınıyorsak değişim olmayacak demektir.

Cumhuriyet’in ikinci yüzyılı demokrasiyle taçlanacaksa demokratik değişim bizden, her birimizden başlamalı. Yoksa Cumhuriyet durup dururken demokrasiyle taçlanmaz, hiçbir taç gökten inmez.

Birey olarak sosyal yaşamımızda, evde, iş yerinde ne kadar demokratız? Farklı inançlara, kimliklere, doğaya, hayvanlara karşı ne kadar demokratız? Kadın erkek ilişkilerinde ne kadar demokratız?

Üyesi olduğumuz siyasi partilerde, derneklerde, meslek odalarında, sendikalarda demokrasi var mı? Yoksa önemli kararlar halen kapalı kapılar ardında, dar gruplar tarafından mı alınıyor? Örneğin, önümüzde milletvekili seçimleri varken adaylar neden ön seçimle belirlenmiyor, bunun bir açıklaması var mı?

Bizden farklı düşünenlere saygıyla yaklaşıyor muyuz? Sorunlarımızı konuşarak, tartışarak, uzlaşmayla çözmeye açık mıyız?

Hak ve özgürlüklerimizi, korumakta ve büyütmekte bilinçli miyiz, atak mıyız?

Örgütlü toplumun gücünün farkında mıyız? Yoksa örgütlü hareket etmekten halen çekiniyor, korkuyor muyuz?

Özgür düşüncenin ne olduğunu, önemini tam olarak kavramış durumda mıyız?

Devletin demokratikleşmesi ise kurumların ve kuralların evrensel insan hakları, demokrasi standartlarına uygun işletilmesiyle olur. Devlet demokratikse hem kararlar verilirken hem de denetim yapılırken yurttaşa açık olur. Demokratik devlet; yurttaşın önüne engel çıkarmayan, baskılamayan, özgürlüklere saygılı devlettir.

Demokratik devletin bozulup yozlaşmamasının, faşizan devlete dönüşmemesinin garantisi de demokratik toplum ve demokratik bireydir.

Biz değişmemişsek devlet üstten değişse bile bunun kimseye yararı da olmaz, zaten öyle bir değişim kalıcı da olmaz. Dolayısıyla demokratik cumhuriyet ancak demokrat bireylerle, demokratik toplumla var olabilir.

Sözün özü, kimse kendini de halkı da kandırmaya kalkmasın. Bu seçim kampanyasından başlayarak kendimizi değişime açık hale getirelim.
